The Primary Food Safety Level 2 Course

This course is a legal requirement and trains food handlers in the skills and knowledge of food safety and HACCP. The course is designed by Environmental Health Officers and is certified by the professional body for Environmental Health Officers, the EHAI. Irish Health & Safety Solutions is a licensed trainer by the EHAI and we are listed on the Environmental Health Association of Ireland Website.

Who should take the programme?  

This course is for anyone who is working with food, looking to improve their skills and keep up to date with current food legislation.  

 

Course Content:

  • Food Safety 

  • Microbiological Hazards 

  • Food Contamination 

  • HACCP from Delivery to Storage 

  • HACCP from Food Preparation to Service 

  • Personal Hygiene 

  • Pest Control 

  • Cleaning and Disinfection 

  • Food Safety Law and Enforcement 

 

Duration:  

The primary course takes between 8 to 10 hours to complete and includes a written exam. It may be delivered over 1 day. The refresher course will take 4 hours to complete and includes a written exam. 

Irish Health & Safety Solutions will correct your exam and submit the corrected exam paper to the EHAI for External Validation. 

Results are processed by the EHAI and certificates issued within 3 weeks.  

 

The Primary Food Safety Level 2 Course is valid for 5 years. The Refresher course certificate is valid for 3 years. 

You must be within your 5 year certification period to take the refresher course.  

If you are outside the 5 year certification period, you will be required to take the Primary Course again.
